5. No sooner ... than... = Hardly / Barely / Scarely ...when / before... (Vừa mới .... thì.....)
No sooner had + S + V(PP/V3) + than + clause (mệnh đề thường ở thì quá khứ đơn).
Hardly / Barely / Scarely had + S + V(PP/V3) + when / before + clause (mệnh đề thường ở thì quá khứ đơn)
VD:
No sooner had I arrived home than the telephone rang.
(Tôi vừa về tới nhà thì điện thoại reo)
Hardly / Scarely / Barely had we sat down at the table, when the phone rang
(Chúng tôi vừa ngồi xuống bàn thì điện thoại reo)
6. Đảo ngữ với Not only…… but also…
Not only: mệnh đề đảo
But … also: mệnh đề thường.
Not only + Trợ động từ/be + S + V but + S + also
VD:
Not only is he good at English but he can also draw very well.
(Anh ta không chỉ giỏi tiếng Anh mà anh ta còn vẽ rất đẹp.)
Not only do we finish this work but we also work overtime.
(Không những phải làm xong công việc này mà chúng tôi còn phải làm thêm giờ nữa).
7. Đảo ngữ với SO
So + Adj/ Adv + Trợ động từ + S + V + that-clause (mệnh đề danh từ)
VD:
So dark is it that I can’t write.
(Tôi k thể viết vì quá tối)
So busy am I that I don’t have time to look after myself.
(Tôi k có thời gian chăm sóc bản thân vì quá bận)
So difficult was the exam that few student pass it.
So attractive is she that many boys run after her.
8. So + adjective + be + N + clause
VD:
So intelligent is that she can answer all questions in the interview.
(Cô ấy có thể trả lời tất cả câu hỏi trong buổi phỏng vấn vì cô ấy rất tự tin)
9. Đảo ngữ với until/ till + clause/ Adv of time + Trợ động từ + S + V(Cho đến khi...)
VD: I won’t come home till 10 o’clock.
(Tôi k muốn về nhà cho đến khi 10 giờ)
(=Not until/ till o’clock that I will come home.)
(= It is not until 10 o’clock that I will come home.)
I didn’t know that I had lost my key till I got home.
(Tôi k biết tôi làm mất chìa khóa cho đến khi tôi về nhà)
(= Not until/ till I got home did I know that I had lost my key.)
10. Đảo ngữ với No where + Aux (Trợ động từ) + S + V(Không nơi nào...)
VD:
No where in the Vietnam is the scenery as beautiful as that in my country.
(K nơi nào ở Việt Nam có phong cảnh đẹp như ở quê tôi)
No where do I feel as comfortable as I do at home.
(K nơi nào tôi cảm thấy thoải mái như ở nhà)
No where can you buy the goods as good as those in my country.
